FAMU Summer Grad Awarded Post-Doctoral Fellowship at USC

Recent Florida A&M University graduate Nemmi Cole, Ph.D., has been awarded the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Environmental Justice & Health  Disparities from the Division of Environmental Health in conjunction with the Department of Population & Public Health Sciences and the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Cole will lead community-driven environmental justice projects focused on industrial pollution, health disparities, community science, and community engagement abound in Southern California. Her work will assess environmental health hazards, including drinking water quality, substantial in stressed communities of color and work in partnership with community-based environmental justice organizations across Los Angeles and throughout Southern California.

Cole was also just named a new Black Trailblazer in Engineering (BTE) Fellow by Purdue University in Fall 2021. The goal of the BTE program at Purdue  Engineering is to prepare future trailblazing faculty in engineering with a focus on preparing outstanding scholars who are also committed to increasing the success of black engineers.

As a selected BTE fellow, Cole will attend a workshop and training that will provide her opportunities for scientific interactions, career- oriented discussions, and networking.
