FAMU’s Genyne Henry Boston Heads for EWU

Florida A&M University Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs Genyne Henry Boston, Ph.D., is leaving the University after 27 years of dedicated service as an administrator and tenured faculty member. She will assume a new role at Edward Waters University (EWU) in Jacksonville next month as provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs.
“I am deeply grateful for the dedication and diligence that Dr. Boston has provided for our unit and our institution,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost Allyson Watson, Ph.D. “She has established a stellar career at the University and has been a cherished part of the Academic Affairs team.”
During her years at FAMU, Boston rose from an assistant professor of English in the College of Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities to a tenured professor, and has held several leadership positions across campus. As an administrator, she has served as the director of the Quality Enhancement Program, founding director of the FAMU Teaching & Learning Center, deputy athletic director, director of Composition Studies, and English Department Chair.
She is highly respected for her ability to oversee several successful strategic initiatives to help move the university forward, including the newly created Women in Leadership online certificate program, the Digital Rattler Initiative for classroom learning with iPads, and the current online tenure and promotion process.
Boston has recently been named an American Council on Education Fellow after receiving a nomination from President Robinson to participate in their distinguished executive leadership development program.
In an announcement to staff, Watson said, “Boston is a powerful force and champion for women in higher education and she will be a beacon of light to any institution of higher education.”
Her last day at the University will be June 30, 2023.
