Testimonials

"Being in the LLC has been the cornerstone to the start of my success here at Florida A&M. The school of the environment LLC provides many opportunities for research and funding. I have received much experience in my time here. The LLC helped me with research experience, professional development, and connections. I made many friends also majoring in environmental sciences/studies. The liaisons and staff over the LLC were supportive and made the living learning community feel like a family. If I could go back again, I would have made the same decision to join the LLC. I would encourage any future SOE Scholar to join."

"The School of Environment’s LLC program has been a great learning and growing experience. While participating in LLC my freshman year I was able to gain skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, equipment management and many more skills that will be prominent in my future as an environmental scientist. Over the course of the school year I was able to work alongside faculty members of SOE on research based activities. Where I was able to learn about ecosystem health, current environmental issues and their sustainability efforts. Last year, we studied the microbiomes of oyster populations to understand their relationship with ocean filtration and the nitrogen cycle. The SOE LLC has had a wonderful impact on me, and has begun to shape me into the environmental scientist and activist that I hope to be."
