Jake Gaither Gymnasium, located at 1755 Wahnish Way, was completed in 1963 and has been the center of Florida A&M University's educational, athletic, and cultural activities for decades.

Jake Gaither Gymnasium was completed in 1963 and has been the center of Florida A&M University's educational, athletic, and cultural activities for decades. It is named for Jake Gaither, head football coach at Florida A&M University from 1945 until 1969.

It served as home to the Florida A&M University Rattlers basketball team until 2008, when the AL Lawson Center was built.

Gaither Gymnasium acts as an education and general services building. The FAMU E&G budget funds Gaither's primary operations; therefore, E&G events, such as curriculum-related and general services-related activities, are supported without charge. By Florida Board of Governors regulation, all other uses must be self-supporting.

The gymnasium, located at 1755 Wahnish Way, has a maximum capacity of 3,300 attendees. It is comprised of a single sports court and retractable bleachers, which double the size of the floor for larger events when retracted. The total floor area when bleachers are retracted is 13,786 sq. ft.
