About Me


Professor Houston Turner is an alumna of and instructor in Florida A&M University’s School of Business and Industry (SBI). She began teaching at FAMU in 2007 as an adjunct and became a full-time instructor in 2011. Her teaching portfolio includes Business Ethics, Human Resource Management, and Business Strategy.

She has served as a case competition coach and corporate coordinator for over 10 years and has coached teams to win over $300,000 in the last three years. Her

Through her commitment, teaching, and service, she was among the first cohort of faculty promoted to Associate Instructors.

She serves a business consultant and regularly conducts seminars and keynotes on business strategy, ethics, corporate culture, leadership, management, teamwork, entrepreneurship, conflict resolution, and financial literacy.

Professor Houston Turner began her career with The Florida Legislature’s research office in 2000. She and her teams served as trusted consultants to many Senators and Representatives. She broke historical barriers to become the office’s first and only African-American and youngest manager. During her 11-year tenure, she helped create positive change in a vast range of areas, was awarded for saving millions of public funds, and was lauded for proposing enacted laws that reduced the incarceration of non-violent offenders.
