OVERVIEW As part of our services to campus, we coordinate concerns raised by individuals who believe a member of the Florida A&M University community has violated a law, regulation, policy, or acted in an unethical manner. Investigations may be performed by DoA at the request of management, the Board of Trustees or originating from a submission through the University's Hotline. If you are concerned for the immediate safety of yourself or others, please dial 911.

Our responsibilities

All members of our FAMUly can help to make sure the University conducts its business with honesty and integrity. To help, you should report all instances of possible violations of law, regulations and University policy. University Compliance Services provides several ways for you to report these violations without fear of retaliation.

Investigations will be conducted under the guidelines outlined in the Standards for Complaint Handling and Investigations for the State University System of Florida

If applicable, investigations will also be conducted in compliance with the Whistle-blower Act (Section 112.3187-112.31895 Florida Statutes).

What is a reportable violation?

Examples of reportable violations include illegal or fraudulent activity, financial misstatements or irregularities, conflicts of interest, unethical conduct, and violations of laws, rules or regulations. If you have questions as to whether an action is reportable or not, please contact us.

How can I report a violation?

There are a couple of methods for reporting suspected compliance and ethics violations. The Compliance and Ethics Hotline service is offered through Global Compliance. Through this system, allegations can be reported by phone or online 24 hours a day, seven days a week in a confidential setting without fear of reprisal. Reports submitted through the Web Form or Hotline are then forwarded to the appropriate university officials who will promptly address the allegations. If contact information is provided by the reporting party, he or she may be contacted for further information or may request updates on the investigation.

You may choose to make reports anonymously, but please keep in mind that we may not have a way to contact you should we have additional questions. The University will maintain confidentiality within the confines of the law, but all information submitted to the Compliance and Ethics Hotline is publicly available through the Florida Freedom of Information Act.

It is the policy of Florida A&M University not to retaliate against those who report suspected wrongdoing.
