Placement tests are designed to assess the academic skill levels of incoming students in subjects like Reading, Writing, English, and Mathematics. Students are then placed in appropriate courses according to their academic skills.
Depending on the students' test results, they may be able to skip some introductory courses. Alternatively, the scores may indicate that the student needs more preparation for college-level courses. If this is the case, the student may be required to take a developmental course.
