CeDAR Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Accommodations

At Cedar, we work closely with the FAMU Housing Department to ensure students with a disability(ies) are afforded access to reasonable housing accommodations such as an Emotional Support Animal (ESA). An ESA is viewed as a reasonable accommodation in a housing unit that has a no pet policy for its residents under the Fair Housing Act (FHA).

Residence Halls are considered a part of the FHA. ESAs provide a measure of support and comfort to individuals with qualifying disabilities. They are a prescribed part of therapy for emotional and psychological disabilities and serve to alleviate symptoms of the disability.

To request a reasonable accommodation for an ESA a student must:

  • I. Complete the ESA application on AIM.
