Get To Know ERCCD!

“We are building a foundation for lifelong learners…the Rattler way!”

FAMU-ERCCD Mission:

The mission of the ERCCD is to provide a safe, nurturing and culturally rich environment, where children can develop emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually.

FAMU-ERCCD Philosophy:

The philosophy of the ERCCD is that all children are valued, deserve to be loved and provided with skills to think independently, act intelligently and live effectively as individuals in society. We understand that the preschoolers of today will be the planners, creators and leaders of tomorrow. It is our goal to develop a lifelong quest for learning!

Our Foundation:

Founded in 1989 as New Beginnings Child Development Center, FAMU-ERCCD provides the constituents of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with quality child care while serving as a resource facility for many facets of early childhood education, including students’ practical experience, community service, and graduate research.

FAMU-ERCCD is a licensed child care facility under the Florida Department of Children and Families, a School Readiness and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) provider with the Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend, and accredited by AdvancED.

Staff Intro

Our Staff FAMUly

Our staff are encouraged to help children develop skills in observing, questioning, listening, discovering, and understanding. Our ERCCD staff recognizes the growth and developmental stages of young children and we create lesson plans geared to the individual needs of each child. Using this approach young children gain self-confidence and self-respect while maximizing their capabilities and strengthening their limitations. /administration/division-of-student-affairs/educational-research-center-for-child-development/pdf/Parent%20Handbook.ERCCD2019.pdf
