The Black Archives houses more than 500,000 individual archival records that are cataloged and available for public use.

  • Requests for reference service and materials can be made via phone or in-person visits. These units are closed on the weekends and holidays. At, present, most reference requests are made in person, while others are handled by telephone. All of the center's archival records and reference materials are non-circulating.
  • Certain materials are available for photocopying and other forms of reproduction. However, some rare and fragile materials may not be available for photocopying or other electronic reproductions.
