We have selected the 10" iPad Pro with 64GB of storage for incoming, first-year degree seeking students. The accessories included with your iPad Pro are the 2nd generation Apple Pencil with adapter, a Smart Keyboard with case, and a USB-C charger with cable.

Note: The Digital Rattler Initiative does not provide additional accessories such as a screen protector or Apple Pencil holder. Students will need to supply extra accessories.

It is highly recommended that the iPad be utilized in class, and some coursework may focus on certain apps or iPad-specific software. Feel free to discuss options with your individual instructors, should this become an issue.

The iPad is considered university property until your graduation. Upon graduation from the Florida A&M University, ownership will transfer to you. If you leave the university for any reason prior to graduation, you are expected to return your iPad or purchase it at its depreciation value. You may not sell or otherwise change ownership of the iPad at any time.

In-person:

Be sure to bring the iPad, all provided accessories, and the Return iPad Form.
Hours: Monday - Saturday, 8-5 p.m. Sundays, 12-5 p.m.

By mail:

Be sure to include the Apple Pencil, Apple Smart Keyboard, all provided accessories, and the Return iPad Form. You may use any carrier.

If you would like to maintain ownership of your technology after you leave the Florida A&M University, you have the option to purchase your device and its accessories at a depreciated value. For more information visit the iPad Return and Purchase page.

After purchasing the device, we will remove the device management system and you will be able to use your iPad the same way as any of your other personal devices. For this reason, we strongly encourage you to utilize an Apple ID and cloud services.

Technology

This is a short sentence providing context for the information appearing.

Data plans are not included. The devices are Wi-Fi enabled. Online students must have access to a wireless Internet connection from their home or other location or purchase their own data plan.
A core set of apps will come pre-configured on the device. The iOS apps are aimed at helping students achieve a high level of academic success. The programs are designed to prepare students for college work and life.
Students may customize their iPad with technology for both learning and personal life. The devices are theirs to customize and use for classes, FaceTime family and friends, or watch their favorite content. FAMU encourages students to utilize the iPad for both school work and personal life. It is recommended that students utilize an Apple ID and cloud services.
The FAMU Teaching & Learning Center will offer regularly scheduled workshops on best practices for using iPads and technology in the classroom.  For more information, visit famu.edu/tlc or email tlc@famu.edu.  Additionally, Apple has several resources available at support.apple.com/ipad.

The choice is yours. We recommend that you set up a brand new account if you currently share your iCloud (Apple ID) account with family members.

For help with creating an iCloud (Apple ID), visit Apple's ID Support.
