About Me

I am an Associate Professor of Geological Oceanography and Marine Pollution Geospatial at the School of the Environment, Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL. I am also the co-Lead of the Coastal Intelligence thematic area for the NOAA Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems.

Since 2016 at FAMU, I have engaged my undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students in research addressing questions related to foraminiferal micropaleontology, environmental micropaleontology, heavy metal pollution, bioavailability, microbiomes, experimental culture work, coastal ecology, fate and transport of pollutants, microplastics, and recent foraminiferal assemblages in coastal ecosystems. In addition, I am also interested in the trophic transfer of heavy metals from benthic communities.

I am a member of the following:
- steering committee for the Foraminiferal Biomonitoring (FOBIMO) European working group
- research advisory for the Apalachicola Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Florida
- research advisory for the Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Puerto Rico
- advisory board for Savannah River Environmental Sciences Field Station in South Carolina
