About Me

An award-winning journalist and passionate storyteller, Zak Dahlheimer is excited to be a part of the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication faculty as an adjunct professor in journalism.

Outside the SJGC, Zak is an evening anchor and investigative reporter for WCTV, the CBS affiliate serving Florida's Big Bend region and South Georgia.

You can catch Zak co-anchoring Eyewitness News weeknights at 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. He also enjoys working on in-depth, investigative stories and community-focused projects.

Throughout his career, Zak has covered major local and national stories in Florida, California, North Carolina, and Virginia.

He's also passionate about volunteering with the American Cancer Society, a cause that’s very close to him being a testicular cancer survivor.

Zak graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication and an outside concentration in Political Science. He also graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri with a Master of Arts in Journalism.

Zak has been nominated for multiple regional Emmys and has won awards from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters, the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters, Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC), Florida Associated Press Broadcasters Association and National Broadcasting Society.

Outside of work, Zak enjoys traveling, playing guitar, going to concerts and pro wrestling shows, and cheering on the Florida Gators and FAMU Rattlers!

Zak is excited to collaborate with SJGC faculty to help cultivate future journalists.
