About Me

After almost 35 years in the industry as a reporter and editor, I became a full-time associate professor in January 2015, and I have been teaching upper-level news writing courses ever since. I am also the faculty adviser for The Famuan, our award-winning student newspaper.

"We are at a pivotal time in our nation's history as far as journalism is concerned. The media is under attack, and it's important that our students learn the importance of being fair and accurate with each and every story they tell." - Douglas S. Blackburn
