NGR 6202L- Primary Care of the Adults Across the Life Span II- Practicum
Dr. Tai Arise has been in the healthcare profession for approximately twenty years
and has a passion for teaching and mentoring new nurses and advanced nurse practitioners.
After graduating with her BSN from Oklahoma City University, she became a Medical
-surgical nurse and worked on several specialties including Cardiac and Telemetry.
Throughout her career she has served as a charge nurse and mentor/preceptor to new
nurses and APRNs.
Dr. Arise obtained her Doctorate in Nursing Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner
and has worked in different specialties including Correctional, Primary Care, Internal
medicine, Urgent Care Setting, and Telehealth. She has worked with patients across
the life span and currently works at the Veterans Medical Center as an Internal Medicine/Telehealth
provider seeing mostly the Adult-geriatric population. She has also taught in several
undergraduate and graduate programs, both online and in the traditional school setting.
She enjoys teaching and impacting knowledge to her students.
She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau, Incorporated, which recognizes the value of
scholarship and the importance of excellence in practice. The Sigma Theta Tau was
also the first organization to fund nursing research. Dr. Arise is also a member of
the Association of Black Nursing Faculty, which is an organization that reduces healthcare
disparities among minority communities by contributing to the global scholarly discourse.
She also volunteers as an Associate Editor to the journal published by the ABNFF.
She has also served as a Clinical Practice Expert on several DNP projects.
Dr. Arise enjoys traveling, reading books and spending time with her daughter and
her husband.
