About Me

Originally from Maine, Dr. LaBossiere began his career at Florida A&M University in 1993. In addition to being a philosophy professor who teaches Ethics, Metaphysics, and Epistemology, Dr. LaBossiere is one of the first Hewlett Foundation Cyber Policy Institute fellows. This opportunity arose from past research in technological ethics.

While dedicated to teaching, Dr. LaBossiere serves as the facilitator of the Philosophy & Religion Unit, is the chair of the General Education Assessment Committee, is the chair of the General Education Steering Committee and serves as a member of the Institutional Level Assessment Committee. Because of his background in general education, Dr. LaBossiere served and serves on statewide committees revising the General Education curriculum.

While earning his PhD at The Ohio State University, Dr. LaBossiere earned his ramen noodle money writing for various TTRPG (Tabletop Role Playing Game) companies such as TSR (D&D), R. Talsorian Games (Cyberpunk), GDW (Traveller), and Chaosium (Call of Cthulhu and Runequest). Dr. LaBossiere continues to write material for D&D 5E and Call of Cthulhu 7E. He is an accomplished cartographer of fictional and real locations. Dr. LaBossiere earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do through the OSU Tae Kwon Do club and still practices.

While earning his B.A. in philosophy and political science at Marietta, College, Dr. LaBossiere ran track and was All Conference twice in cross country. Dr. LaBossiere was also part of the state champion college debate team. Dr. LaBossiere still runs and competes in trail and road races.
