About Me

I am an Associate Professor of Social Work. I entered academia full-time in 2006 after 21 years of clinical and administrative practice with the federal government and the Department of Veteran Affairs. I teach across the BSW program curriculum and joined the "FAMUly" in the Fall of 2019 after teaching for seven years at Albany State University and six years at Savannah State University, respectively.

I am an international professor and have taught Summer courses abroad annually since 2009 and crossed international borders in my successful endeavors to culturally connect the U.S. and the Trinidad and Tobago child and family welfare systems. I have had opportunities to present regionally and nationally on the topics of intimate partner/domestic violence, academic service learning, child and family welfare, homeless veterans, post-traumatic stress disorder, active duty military, and a genre of other social work topics and themes; during my career, I have been privileged to present in many professional and community events and forums each year as I address my research interests and practical knowledge.

I am a CSWE site visitor and was recently appointed to the Council on Social Work Education's (CSWE) Council on Global Learning and Practice, to promote learning and exchange on global and international issues in social work practice. My latest manuscript is: The 21st Century Crisis of Intimate Partner Violence Among African American Male Victims: Up Close and Personal with an Unnoticed Population (A Social Work Response). (Amazon) Education: B.A (Sociology)-Paine College; MSW-University of Georgia; PhD: Clark Atlanta University.
