Bio


Dr. Carlos A. Reyes-Ortiz has been an Associate Professor at the Institute of Public Health, College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Florida A & M University, in Tallahassee, Florida, since Sept. 2019. He was previously a geriatrician at the McGovern School of Medicine, Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine in Houston, Texas, for five years. He graduated as a doctor and completed a family medicine residency at the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. He earned his Ph.D. in Preventive Medicine and Community Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He was three times a fellow in geriatric medicine [Spain and US]. He was twice a US Fulbright Scholar (2017-2018, 2022-2023) in Colombia. His research includes studies on geriatric syndromes, public health, global health, and cancer disparities in the United States, Colombia, and other Latin American and Caribbean countries.
