I am an Assistant Professor with a background in teaching U.S., World history, Civics, and Contemporary Global Issues courses at the secondary level. My research is primarily focused on global citizenship education, global education, multicultural education, and innovative Social Studies instructional methods. I have presented my research at prestigious conferences, including the National Council of the Social Studies (NCSS), International Assembly (IA), Florida Council for the Social Studies (FCSS), and The American Educational Research Association (AERA). Furthermore, my scholarly contributions can be found in publications such as Teaching and Teacher Education, Journal of Social Studies Research, and the Oregon Journal of the Social Studies.
My research delves into the cognitive development of students as they grapple with the intricacies of our contemporary world and developed into well-informed, empathetic, and caring global citizens. I also explore innovative, inquiry-based curriculum and issues-centered teaching methods that highlight the importance and benefits of incorporating authenticity as part of everyday classroom instruction.
