Professor Takiyah Mitchell is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator who
earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics and Information Management from Florida
A&M University in 2011. She also earned her Masters of Science degree in Health Informatics
from Grand Canyon University located in Phoenix, Arizona. As Director of the HIT Program
at North Florida College from 2015-2021, Professor Mitchell developed and directed
a successful online medical coding and billing program offered to surrounding counties
in rural North Florida. Professor Mitchell has over six years of experience in academia,
teaching introduction to health information management, legal aspects of health information
management, clinical classification systems, health information systems, healthcare
reimbursement, professional development and coordinating clinical rotations and internships.
Additionally, Professor Mitchell has healthcare experience in acute care, specialty
physician office and community health care center. She is a proud mother of 3 boys
and her interest is to create a student-centered environment where students can thrive.
