bio


Jian Jones, PhD, OTR/L, ACSM-CEP is an Assistant Professor, a licensed and registered occupational therapist, a certified exercise physiologist, and certified life coach. Dr. Jones also holds certification in the neonatal oral motor assessment screen, 500-HR yoga teacher instruction, and has over 20 years of experience within healthcare. Dr. Jones has practiced occupational therapy for 13 years in the settings of acute care, home health, and community practice. As a Black woman spoken word practitioner, Dr. Jones implements Hip Hop culture and spoken word poetry as instructional practice within OT pedagogy. Jones’ research interests include occupational science, identity studies, mindfulness, culturally relevant teaching/ pedagogy, student empowerment, well-being, and Hip-Hop scholarship combine with critical studies related to occupation.
