FAMU to Close Jan. 21-22 Ahead of Winter Storm Enzo

Monday, January 20

Tallahassee, Fla. – Due to expected inclement weather conditions from Winter Storm Enzo, Florida A&M University (FAMU) will be closed Jan. 21-22 for all students, faculty, staff and non-essential personnel on the Tallahassee, Quincy, and Crestview campuses for the entire day. This measure is being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
 
Additional details for Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025 are listed as follows:
  • Main campus food services will be open fron 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Venom Shuttle will operate from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., pending road conditions.
  • The Educational Research Center for Child Development (ERCCD) and FAMU Developmental Research School (DRS) will be closed and athletic events will be cancelled.     
  • The Jacksonville, College of Law Orlando, Tampa, Brooksville Farm, and Miami campuses will remain open on Tuesday and operate as normal, unless the forecast changes, and we will adjust accordingly.
 
FAMU will close the following campuses on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025:
  • Tallahassee campus, the ERCCD, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, FAMU Developmental Research School (DRS), Crestview Peaden Campus, and Quincy Extension Farm will be closed for all students, faculty, staff and non-essential personnel.
  • In the event that we can not open safely for Food services, pre-packaged meals will be prepared and delivered to the residence halls on Tuesday afternoon for Wednesday.
  • The FAMU Career Expo will be canceled.

FAMU Announces the Status of Campus Operations for Tuesday and Wednesday Ahead of Winter Weather

In preparation for the winter weather forecast provided by the National Weather Service (NWS), Florida A&M University (FAMU) has outlined the following operational adjustments for Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. Please note that forecasts are subject to change, and we encourage everyone to remain vigilant to monitor updates from the NWS and local authorities.

In response to the anticipated winter weather, Florida A&M University (FAMU) will operate as follows on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025:

  • FAMU Tallahassee campus will be open on Tuesday until 3 p.m. Classes after 3 p.m. will be held virtually.
  • The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering will remain open through 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, unless otherwise noted by Florida State University.
  • The Crestview-Peaden campus will be virtual all day.
  • Main campus food services will close at 6 p.m. The Venom Shuttle will run from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m..
  • The Educational Research Center for Child Development (ERCCD) will remain open under normal operating hours.
  • Jacksonville, College of Law Orlando, Tampa, Brooksville Farm, and Miami campuses will remain open and operate as normal.

We are also reviewing the impact of the weather forecast on afterschool activities scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 21, at both FAMU and FAMU DRS. Updates regarding these activities will be provided by Monday, January 20, 2025.

FAMU will close the following campuses on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025:

  • Tallahassee campus, the ERCCD, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, FAMU Developmental Research School (DRS), Crestview Peaden Campus, and Quincy Extension Farm will be closed.
  • Food services will transition to brunch hours of 11 am – 6 p.m. The Venom Shuttle will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • The FAMU Career Expo will be canceled.
