Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) first cryptocurrency donation is among the gifts received as the University approaches another record fundraising year.
FAMU alumnus Elijah John Bowdre, co-founder of the U.S. Crypto Policy Alliance and chairman of the Miami-Dade County Crypto Currency Task Force, donated cryptocurrency to his alma mater worth $100,000.
The donation has been converted and will be recognized on the SBI Big Board for being endowed for student scholarships within the School of Business and Industry (SBI), from which Bowdre graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2008.
Bowdre was among the donors recognized at Bragg Memorial Stadium during the 2022 homecoming game for the $100,000 cryptocurrency gift.
FAMU has raised approximately $22 million in corporate and private donations so far this fiscal year.
