Florida A&M University Business and Auxiliary Services (BAS) announced the winners of the Food Court Column Wraps Design Contest.
In March, BAS launched the Food Court Column Wraps Design Contest, which provided an opportunity for participants to submit graphic designs to be displayed on the four floor-to-ceiling columns located in the University Food Court. Each design entry was required to represent and celebrate aspects of FAMU culture.
Jasmine Patrick, a third year Graphic Design student from Atlanta, Georgia, won first prize – a MacBook Air.
“I love FAMU so much, so I wanted to express my love of FAMU’s culture through my own drawings and experiences,” Patrick said.
Sydney Richardson, a third year Graphic Design student from Jonesboro, Georgia, won second prize – an iPad Pro. Richardson’s decision to pursue graphic design as a career led her to FAMU.
“FAMU is one of the few HBCUs that has a great graphic design program,” Richardson said.
Kobe Gibson, hailing from Memphis Tennessee, won third prize – an iPad Pro. Gibson graduated in May 2023 with a Master of Architecture.
Khamaria Turner, a fourth year Architecture and Engineering scholar from Miami, Florida, won fourth prize – a MacBook Air. Turner’s love for art began in third grade and is expressed her enjoyment in bringing ideas to life.
“Student engagement is key to our success. This contest allowed students to not only showcase their tremendous graphic design skills, but to also be a part of telling the story of the rich culture of FAMU,” said Chasity Brown, director of Business and Auxiliary Services. “This is truly an example of ‘for us, by us’ that our students can be very proud of.”
The winning prizes were sponsored by business partner, Refreshment Services Pepsi, the University beverage provider.
