The Florida A&M University Windy Symphony President’s Concert will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lee Hall auditorium.
During the event, 20 people will be honored with the FAMU Community Music Service Award. Each recipient will receive a special plaque representing their contribution to music on the FAMU campus and in the Big Bend/Tallahassee area, said FAMU Director of Bands Shelby Chipman, Ph.D.
Along with the selections to be performed by the FAMU Wind Symphony, the audience will be asked to sing along during the performance of “Cloudburst,” by Eric Whitacre, using the band bells.
The concert will close with a special selection “Come Sunday,” by Omar Thomas, featuring the FAMU Wind Symphony and the Mahogany Dance Theatre and Strikers Dance Company.
