Writing Resource Center Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.s)

A: The WRC makes it a point to not proofread or edit papers. Our goal is to help students identify their own writing challenges, and show them various ways to correct them for themselves.

A: We can help you with:
  • • Understanding your assignment
  • • Brainstorming and developing your ideas
  • • Planning and organizing your ideas
  • • Thesis statement creation
  • • Engaging introductions and conclusions

 Just to name a few!

A: In order for our writing consultants to best assist you, we recommend that you bring the assignment instructions, pen/pencil, paper, your draft (if you have it), feedback (if you’ve submitted a draft), the rubric, an inquisitive mind, the willingness to answer questions, and a positive attitude.

A: Yes, we can assist with in-text citations, reference pages, and everything in between. We cannot, however, assist with formatting processing programs like Microsoft Word.

A: No. We request that you schedule an appointment, complete it, and then schedule another appointment. Doing so will allow us to assist the entire FAMU community.

Please note: If you schedule multiple appointments, you will run the risk of having your account temporarily suspended from making appointments.

A: Yes, we do! Just make an appointment, and in the notes, inform the tutor that you’re working on a group assignment, and are bringing your groupmates. We will take it from there!

A: You can email us at  wrc@famu.edu, or call us at (850) 599-8391  to cancel.
