Undergraduate Students
As educators, The Office of International Education and Development (OIED) collaborates with the FAMU colleges and schools to provide international educational opportunities that enable our students to develop their cross-cultural competencies by becoming knowledgeable of world affairs, developing regional expertise relevant to their specific fields of study, and to become proficient in one or more foreign languages.
Am I an International Studies Student?
An international studies student is someone who has:
· Beginning Freshmen: Completed the equivalent of a U.S. secondary school and have not earned a university degree equivalent to a US bachelor's degree.
· Transfers: Completed the equivalent of a U.S. secondary school and then enrolled in a college or university without yet earning a university degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.
· Proficiency in spoken and written English
· Scores resulting from the TOEFL (computer-based 173; Internet-based 80) or IELTS 6
Undergraduate Admissions Requirements
All International applicants applying to Florida A&M University are required to submit an online application. It is important to provide complete and accurate information. Incomplete information will delay the processing of your application. Required documentation such as transcripts, diploma/degree certificates and examination results must be accompanied by certified, literal (exact) English translations if documents are not issued originally in English. One official transcript (in a sealed envelope) from each college or university attended from NACES Member; TOEFL paper-based 550; or TOEFL internet-based 80; IELST 6.5;

International students must submit the following documents to be considered for admission to Florida A&M University.
Health Insurance and Immunization Records:
All international students must have medical insurance for the duration of their enrollment at FAMU. This is a U.S. government law for all individuals under a student visa and the University strictly enforces this law. All international students must submit proof of compliance prior to registration. Coverage must be valid in the United States.
Immigration and Customs:
In order to obtain the appropriate visa, international students must present form I-20 or IAP-66, evidence of financial support, and a letter of acceptance from FAMU to the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Upon arrival in the U.S., the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) will request the student's passport, visa, and I-20 or IAP-66. An international student should enter the U.S. with F-1 or J-1 non-immigrant immigration status. Please do not come to the U.S. on a tourist visa, even if your country has a visa agreement with the U.S. or you already have a tourist visa. Student's possessing a tourist visa will be forced to leave the United States in order to obtain the appropriate visa.
